Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Timothy (Tim) Louis Gendron, who serves patients in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
With over a quarter of a century of experience, Dr. Gendron is a board certified psychiatrist in practice with Nystrom & Associates – Mendota Heights Clinic in Minnesota.
His clinical interests include general adult psychiatry (17/18 y/o +), geriatric psychiatry, psychopharmacology, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, ADHD, PTSD, sleep disorders, psychosis, medical/neurological issues associated with mental health issues, issues from early adulthood/late teens through later years, and LGBTQ+.
“My approach is an ease of personal connection with a conversational tone, in my hopes of creating an environment in which (often) difficult, personal issues can be discussed. Treatment plans and decisions, including rationale, are always fully discussed, based on medical/psychiatric research as well as expertise and experience, and are jointly made with your assistance, as your own preferences, desires, and needs are critical, in fact, the crux of your own treatment. I am here to help you get better, feel better.”
Academically, Dr. Gendron graduated with his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pre-Medicine and Mathematics from Boston College, with honors in 1991. He then went on to earn his Medical Degree from Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in 1995, after which he performed a 4-year residency in psychiatry and a 1-year fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at Brown University.
Board certified in psychiatry, Dr. Gendron is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Dr. Gendron has held various roles throughout his career, starting in 2000 with Southern New England Physicians Associates, where he worked as part of a group psychiatric practice until 2006. Following this, he ventured into independent contracting as a psychiatrist with South Bay Mental Health Center from 2006 to 2012.
In 2008, Dr. Gendron established his solo private psychiatric practice, Gendron Psychiatric Services, which he managed until 2012. Subsequently, from 2012 to 2017, he served as an outpatient psychiatrist at the Inver Grove Heights Clinic, focusing on behavioral health. Moving forward, he joined Refresh Midwest Operations, SC dba Midwest Psychological Services as an outpatient psychiatrist from 2018 to 2020. His most recent role, from 2020 to 2022, was as an outpatient psychiatrist and tele-psychiatrist at Happier Living.
Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders by conducting psychiatric evaluations, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications.
When not at work, Dr. Gendron enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, exploring local culinary offerings, staying informed about national, local, and global affairs, cherishing the company of animals, reveling in laughter, and avidly following the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Twins.
