He completed his internship at Deaconess Health System in 1983, followed by his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at James L. Fowle Regional Cancer Center in 1986. He then completed his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in 1991.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
