Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Erin Bouhana, who serves patients throughout the State of Michigan.

Dr. Bouhana is a skilled physician providing a full range of obstetrical and gynecologic services at Ascension in Southeast Michigan. 

Her affiliations include Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Ascension Providence Hospital, Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital, and Ascension St. John Hospital.

Besides providing prenatal care to expecting mothers and delivering babies, Dr. Bouhana provides a wide range of state-of-the-art services, including minimally invasive procedures for abnormal bleeding and excessive bleeding, infertility work-ups, menopausal care, pelvic pain, and genetic testing. She specializes in benign robotic hysterectomies. 

Scholastically, Dr. Bouhana graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. She then went on to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Metro Health Hospital.

Achieving an important indicator of quality and expertise, Dr. Bouhana attained board certification in obstetrics and gynecology through the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOBOG). The AOBOG is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) who specialize in the care of the female reproductive tract and children during the course of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period (obstetricians) and to qualified DOs who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the female reproductive tract (gynecologists).

A well-rounded physician, Dr. Bouhana places significant emphasis on advanced therapies and minimally invasive surgical methods. Her unwavering commitment to patient education and a collaborative approach to patient care underscores her practice.

Holding active professional memberships, she is an esteemed member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Michigan Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders that affect women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause. They work with expecting mothers throughout their pregnancies, during childbirth, and into postpartum.
