Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Jorge D. Minor, who serves patients in Los Angeles, California.

A triple board-certified physiatrist, Dr. Minor is the Medical Director of L.A. Pain & Wellness Institute in Los Angeles, California.

“We are a multidisciplinary health practice where pain management doctors and other medical specialists work together to help patients of all ages and walks of life overcome their pain. Our focus is on functional rehabilitation, sports medicine, orthopedic medicine, neurological rehabilitation and interventional pain management. With a focus on diminishing pain and increasing function, Dr. Minor works with a multidisciplinary team that offers effective, state-of-the-art pain management techniques from multiple disciplines. They provide periodic evaluations of significant patient progress toward return-to-work or functional living and lifestyle goals.

Among his other roles, Dr. Minor is a Qualified Medical Examiner (QME) for the State of California, an Independent Medical Examiner (IME), as well as a medical expert witness for various legal cases. He has privileges at Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital in Los Angeles, and is the Medical Director for the Rehabilitation and Therapy Department at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He then completed his postgraduate internship at Weiss Memorial Hospital and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. 

Specializing in EMG/NCV, Dr. Minor is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pain management, and interventional pain medicine. 

The past president of the California Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he is a member of the California Society of Industrial Medicine and Surgery & a Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
