How long does it take for a crowned tooth to stop hurting?
Crowned teeth may be sensitive for a few days up to a couple of weeks. By sensitive, I mean a response to hot or cold. If your tooth is throbbing or waking you up at night, you may have an abscess and you will need to call your dentist. READ MORE

Will my teeth shift without a retainer for 2 weeks?
Yes, your teeth will definitely shift in a two week period. It may not be so drastic that you couldn't get a retainer on, but it could be and you would have to do some sort of Retreatment. Check with you're dentist as soon as possible. READ MORE

After getting anesthetic for the procedure, it should not be painful at all. Your tooth may be slightly sensitive during the temporary crown phase. READ MORE
Are metal partials better than plastic partials?
Absolutely! Metal partials are far superior to plastic partials. Plastic partials are actually considered a temporary partial or an interim partial (allowing tissue healing prior to getting the final metal partial). How often is dental cleaning recommended?
For most adults one dental cleaning every six months is recommended. However, if you are someone that builds calculus rapidly you would probably need to have a cleaning every four months. If you have gum disease a dental cleaning every three months is recommended. READ MORE

Yes, they need to be removed at night. This time is crucial to allow the natural tissue fluid to return to your gum tissue, bringing nutrients and removing toxins. 1. But a good electro toothbrush... Oral b or sonicare. Not a battery one. Studies show they can do 75% to 95% better than you can with a manual brush. 2. Brush twice a day. Morning and bedtime. Spend asst least 1 1/2 - 2 min brushing. Think of the hygienist cleaning one tooth at a time. 3. Floss once a day. 4. But a waterpik water flosser and use at least once a day. Are there any remedies for teeth grinding?
The most common remedy for teeth grinding is a night guard which is a flexible appliance written over your teeth to give you a cushion from grinding. Your dentist should be able to make our order you one to perfectly fit your teeth. However, you may want to try a sports guard that you can buy at any sports store. You place these in hot water and try to mold them to your teeth. The fit is not anything like the custom made one your dentist will make. How often should I get a dental cleaning?
You should get a dental cleaning every six months. Since it has been 3 years, you may need a deep cleaning, or maybe even a regular cleaning followed by a second cleaning. Regular maintenance will keep your teeth and gums healthy. READ MORE

Dr. Hopkins believes strongly that a multidisciplinary philosophy is in the best interest of his patients. This team approach includes referring to physicians, therapists, and other health practitioners. Dr. Hopkins is also an expert in treating TMJ dysfunction. As a result, he is the Director of the Tampa Bay TMJ Pain Center. In 1976, Dr. Hopkins attended West Virginia University School of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors.
Dr. Hopkins has been an active member of Kiwanis and other community groups. Besides providing the highest quality care to his patients, he has also traveled abroad and donated his dental skills to the citizens of less fortunate countries. He has helped the needy in Haiti, Bosnia, the Dominican Republic, and Peru.
Dr. Hopkins received the American Dental Association Award for Foreign Service for the many hours he has donated to serving others abroad. In 2018, he received Paul Harris Fellow recognition by the Rotary Foundation International for his continuing work with the people of Peru. In total, Dr. Hopkins has been to Peru seven times on dental mission trips sponsored by the Rotary Club of Seminole Lake. Additionally, Dr. Hopkins has been serving the greater Dunedin community since 1977, where he has raised his two children.
Dr. Hopkins is a Fellow of the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Florida Dental Association, the West Coast Dental Association, the Upper Pinellas County Dental Association, the Christian Dental Society, the American Academy of Head, Neck and Facial Pain, the Pinnacle Advanced Implant Study Club, and the Quantum Dentists’ Club.
