Cypress Creek Hospital is a fully accredited, 128-bed acute care psychiatric facility in Houston, Texas. It offers a broad range of inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient services for adolescents (ages 12 – 17) and adults suffering from mental illness or substance abuse. The physician-directed staff of registered nurses, social workers, therapists, mental health technicians, and certified alcohol and drug abuse counselors brings skill and compassion to individualized treatment programs for both patient and family.

Academically, Dr. Flowers earned a degree in biology from Jackson State University. While at Jackson State University, he was a National Institute of Health (NIH) scholar and completed an internship in Bethesda, Maryland. Upon completing his undergraduate studies, he attended Meharry Medical College, graduating with his medical degree in 1982. 

Years later, in 1986, Dr. Flowers completed his residency in psychiatry at Baylor University in Houston and began his professional career. To fulfill his National Healthcare Service Scholarship requirements, he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). His tenure with TDCJ began in 1986, where he ultimately rose to Regional Director of Psychiatry and was instrumental in the implementation of a program assisting offenders with addiction.

Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Among his professional affiliations, he is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Texas Medical Association.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders.
