A leader in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Jones specializes in shoulder and knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, sports injuries, fracture care, carpal tunnel release, work comp injuries, ankle problems, rotator cuff tears, labral tears, and shoulder arthritis. He is also certified in performing MAKO robotic-arm assisted technology for total knee replacements, partial knee replacements, and total hip replacements.

Having been practicing in Decatur, Illinois since August of 2002, he works alongside Dr. Edmund W. Raycraft, MD, at their practice, Raycraft and Jones Orthopaedics. The doctors’ goal is to get patients back to their everyday lives by providing the greatest orthopaedic care specific to their individual needs. 

Born and raised in Boardman, Ohio, Dr. Jones graduated Magna Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Youngstown State University and was elected member of the Alpha Omega Epsilon Biological Honor Society. He then went on to earn his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical University – College of Medicine in 1997. 

Wanting to further his training, he completed his one-year surgical internship and four-year residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, one of the world’s largest and busiest health centers. He then attained board certification through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Jones is a member of the Illinois Orthopaedic Society, the Illinois State Medical Society, and the Macon County Medical Society. In addition, he is a Physician Supervisor of the DMH Athletic Training Program, a Team Physician at Millikin University, and on staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.
