Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

2100 Webster St Suite 303 San Francisco CA, 94115

About

Dr. Martin Chin is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon whose private practice is at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. The practice specializes in the treatment of special, challenging facial bone disorders. These include facial bone deficiencies resulting from congenital disorders such as cleft palate and  jaws that have failed to develop completely. To address these disorders, Dr. Chin has developed instruments and techniques to allow predictable reconstruction of missing or deficient facial skeletons. He has written a textbook, multiple scientific articles, and holds multiple patents for these innovations. These techniques include methods to stimulate patients to grow their own living bone to fill missing skeletal segments. This advanced technology does not require use of grafting or synthetic materials. These techniques are important when placing dental implants in patients that lack existing bone. Dr. Chin operates a full-time private practice managing special and conventional maxillofacial disorders. He is the founder and director of Beyond Faces Foundation that supports the treatment of children with craniofacial disorders.

Dr. Chin operates and directs laboratories doing this important research.

In the past, Dr. Chin was involved in developing the scientific basis and clincial instrumentation to allow distraction osteogenesis to be applied from orthopedic surgery to facial bone surgery.

Research done at Loma Linda University promoted the development of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein for clincal use in humans.
