Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Sadhana Kumar, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Dr. Kumar, an experienced nephrologist, sees patients at her private practice – Sadhana Kumar, MD, LLC – in Parsippany, New Jersey. She is also affiliated with Morristown Medical Center, which is part of the Atlantic Health System.

Pertaining to her educational background, Dr. Kumar earned her medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India in 1978. Upon relocating to the United States, she went on to complete her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in nephrology at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey.

The doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Moreover, she is board-certified in nephrology by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, which is committed to providing board recertification for both MDs and DOs that ensures physician compliance with national standards and promotes lifelong learning.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes.
