What do you attribute your success to?
- In the culture I grew up in in South Africa, every family had a family doctor. I saw the role they played in my family personally and that was very important to me. The teaching at Cape Town Medical School was very patient centric which also impacted me. I experienced a lot of hardship before I got to the United States and was able to start practicing medicine. I left my home country and while I waited for the opportunity to go into a residency program in the States, I practiced Bush medicine in Canada for two years. Then I came and had to do an additional training. Going through all of that gave me the opportunity to take care of the most incredible patients and seeing their families grow. Medicine is a calling, not a 9-5 job; I put my patients first always and I preach this to my staff as well. I have the most amazing team and absolutely couldn\'t do my job without them.
