Pertaining to his educational pursuits, Dr. Martin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with distinction and his medical degree from the University of Missouri (Kansas City). He later went on to complete a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Arkansas, where he was voted “Outstanding MBA Student.” He completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology, where he was Chief Resident, at Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center, and his fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA), and is board-certified in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
During his service with the United States Air Force Reserve (Medical Services Corp), he extended his active duty to Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) and later moved to the permanent rank of Colonel.
Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.
Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Martin has been the recipient of the Red Sash Award (1995, 2012), Best Doctors in US Award (1996, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014), Golden Apple Award (2002, 2003), and Meritorious Service Medal (1993, 1999).
