Areas of research
I performed research in HTLV-1 (Human T-Cell Leukemia Virus), the virus that causes adult t-cell leukemia. Our goal was to understand the pathophysiology of HTLV-1 with respect to its ability to transform normal cells into cancerous cells. This would further elucidate the pathogenesis of cancer progression and shed light on new revolutionary anti-cancer drugs.I performed research in Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH) and breast cancer using proteomics as a possible screening modality. Our goal was to determine any difference in the expression of serum proteins in patients with BPH and patients without BPH. Any significant differences in protein expression between these populations would shed light on potentially new proteins that can be used in the screening of BPH.Dr. Steven J.
