Get to know Colon and Rectal Surgeon Dr. Bradley H. Bennett, who serves patients in Rockville, Maryland.

Dr. Bennett is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon serving patients at Metro Colon and Rectal Surgery PC, located in Rockville, Maryland. The practice has been providing quality care to the Washington Metro community for over 25 years. Its mission is to provide patients with exceptional service in a friendly and professional environment.

Dr. Bennett also works as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at George Washington University. In the past, he worked as Chief of the Department of Surgery at Holy Cross Hospital.

Dr. Bennet is affiliated with several hospitals in the Maryland area, including Holy Cross Hospital, Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, and Suburban Hospital.

Dr. Bennett previously served in public health at the National Institutes of Health. Currently, he maintains national certification from the prestigious American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, the American Board of Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Originally from Evansville, Indiana, Dr. Bennett pursued his education at Tufts University in Boston before attending medical school at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He chose to remain in the DC area in order to complete his internship and residency at George Washington University, as well as his fellowship training at Suburban Hospital.

As a member of the American Medical Association and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Dr. Bennett meets the standards and guidelines required of the nation’s leading physicians and surgeons. He believes that excellent patient care is rooted in experience, ongoing education and advancements in modern medical technology. Over the years, his commitment to continued training has led to advanced training in robotic and laparoscopic colon and rectal surgery, as well as transanal endoscopic microsurgery and transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization.

Colorectal surgery is a field in medicine dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. As a colon and rectal surgeon, Dr. Bennett specializes in the preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients with colorectal disorders. He offers treatment for a wide range of conditions, including cancers of the colon and rectum, polyps of the colon and rectum, diverticular disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, volvulus, anorectal abscesses and fistulas, fissures, hemorrhoids, pilonidal disease, inflammatory bowel diseases, colorectal cancer, colorectal genetic testing, anal pain and itching, hereditary polyposis syndromes, rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, and anal warts (condyloma acuminate).

Dr. Bennett holds the honor of being voted one of the area’s top doctors by both peers and patients. He was named Super Doctor by Washington Post Magazine, Top Doctor by Consumers’ Checkbook, Top Doctor by Castle Connolly, as well as Regional Top Doctor for the Washington DC/ Baltimore area.

In his spare time, Dr. Bennett enjoys spending time with his wife and beloved pet dog. He also enjoys playing golf, skiing, and catching up with his daughter, who is currently away doing graduate work at the University of Cambridge, U.K.
