A caring and dedicated Pediatric Hospitalist, Dr. Renesha Butler’s specialties include pediatric hospital medicine, childhood vaccinations, care of the newborn, and common neonatal and childhood diseases. Dr. Butler is currently affiliated with Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lake Pointe.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals continue pediatric care up to the age of 18. Pediatric Hospitalists are Pediatricians who work primarily in the hospital setting. They care for children in many hospital areas, including the Pediatric unit, labor and delivery, the newborn nursery, the emergency department, the neonatal intensive care unit, and the pediatric intensive care unit.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), Dr. Butler is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Medical Association, and the C.V. Roman Medical Society – Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter.
With an extensive educational background, Dr. Butler earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The University of Oklahoma where she was selected for the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She started her career in medicine by earning her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee in 2011 where she was awarded the Victor S. Madhaven Family Academic Scholarship. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in Pediatrics at The University of Florida at Orlando Health – Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in 2012 and 2014, respectively. During her time in residency, she was awarded the 2014 (Cycle 1) CATCH Resident Grant through the American Academy of Pediatrics for her work in improving asthma teaching and outcomes through parental education. After her training, Dr. Butler returned home to Texas to continue to serve the pediatric population in Waco for two years before moving to Dallas in 2016. Currently, Dr. Butler is an adjunct assistant professor in Pediatrics at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, Dr. Butler is also Board-Certified in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).
As a result of her exemplary care, Dr. Butler has been the recipient of several awards and honors, including Patients’ Choice Award (2020), On-Time Doctor Award (2020), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2020).
On a more personal note, Dr. Butler enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with her family and friends, and being with her amazing daughter.
