Educated in the Domenican Republic, Dr. Kabongo graduated with his medical degree from the  Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lubumbashi. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency at Jersey City Medical Center.

A member of the Society of Hospital Medicine, he is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
