Researching and developing new modalities of spine treatments, Dr. Mathur specializes in the comprehensive management of spine problems and minimally invasive spine surgery. He holds multiple US patents issued and pending, has lectured and moderated spine related conferences across the US and abroad, as well as has trained multiple spine surgeons in the US and abroad.
Recognized around the world as a top spine surgeon, he is affiliated with Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, Montgomery General Hospital, Howard County General Hospital, and Hickory Ridge Surgery Center.
Regarding his educational background, Dr. Mathur earned his medical degree from Gandhi Medical College in India. After graduating, he relocated to the UK where he completed multiple residencies in orthopedic surgery at Airedale General Hospital, Eastbourne District General Hospital, and Leeds General Infirmary. Following that, he moved to the United States and completed a further residency in orthopedic surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in spine surgery at the same educational venue.
Licensed to practice medicine in Maryland, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
