Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Sadaf Javaid, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Javaid is a board-certified adult and child psychiatrist seeing patients at her private practice – Cognitive Psychiatry – in Houston, Texas. With extensive hands-on training and experience, she has worked in various health care facilities, from academic institutions to community health centers and has treated patients from diverse cultures and backgrounds. 

Her treatment approach involves developing customized plans for her patients based on their medical history, their families; input and in some cases the school system. Moreover, she has experience treating a wide range of psychiatric issues such as depression, attention deficit/hyperactivity, bipolar and anxiety disorders.

A graduate of the Dow University of Health Sciences, Dr. Javaid completed her residency at the Nassau University Medical Center in Long Island, New York, and specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern – Austin.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Currently, she has her own private practice in the Energy Corridor area of Houston, TX catering to patients who range from 6 – 65 years.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
