He attended Ross University School of Medicine, where he was on the Dean’s List throughout his tenure. He was recognized with a Distinguished Scholar award, subsequently receiving his medical degree with highest honors.
Thereafter, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Dentistry. He stayed on as an Assistant Professor of Medicine on the clinical educator track, while simultaneously completing a fellowship in advanced heart failure management at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He served as a Fellow in Cardiology at Jefferson Medical College at Christiana Care Medical Center in Newark, Delaware, and obtained additional expertise in interventional cardiology by completing a fellowship there.
A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the doctor is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. He also holds board certifications in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
Among his various achievements, Dr. Mandel has authored a book chapter and has had papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals. His passion for medical education was recognized by the cardiology fellowship at Morristown Medical Center with a Teacher of the Year Award as an outstanding educator and mentor in 2018.
