Get to know Acupuncturist Dr. Nara Margolin, who serves the population of Massachusetts. Nara graduated from Yerevan State University in Armenia with a degree in Microbiology. Furthering her education she continued on to Moscow State University in Russia where she graduated with a major in Biochemistry. After obtaining her degrees, she relocated to the United states and worked in leading pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly and Company, Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals Inc., and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Nara then choose to change her profession in order to help people through the ancient medicine of acupuncture medicine rather than through pharmaceuticals. She graduated from the New York College of Health professions in 2005, with her diploma in acupuncture medicine, giving her over a decade of experience in her field. She currently practices within her private practice in Newton, Massachusetts and also helps at the senior center. Acupuncture is a system of healthcare that has been developed, refined, and practiced in China for the past 4,000 years. In ancient times, acupuncture, along with herbal medicine, was used as the primary method of treating injuries and illness. It involves the superficial insertion of hair-thin needles into points on the body that have been proven to relieve pain and disease. Nowadays, most people come to an acupuncturist for medical problems that do not respond well to western medicine (such as drugs, surgery, pain killers, etc.).
