Get to know Psychologist Dr. Lenore E. Walker, who serves patients in Florida.

Dr. Walker is an esteemed educator and psychologist whose extensive accomplishments have left an indelible mark on the fields of psychology and gender violence advocacy. With a career spanning decades, her contributions have redefined the landscape of psychology, forensic cases, and the understanding of gender violence.

Her affiliation with Walker & Associates, LLC demonstrates her commitment to fostering collaborative, holistic solutions. She leads a team of psychologists who traverse states and borders to assist clients and attorneys in navigating complex litigation needs. The team’s reputation in BWS evaluations in forensic contexts underscores their impact and influence.

Graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College of CUNY, Dr. Walker went on to further her education by receiving her Master of Science degree from the City College of CUNY, followed by her Doctor of Education degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Later, she obtained an additional Master of Science degree in clinical psychopharmacology from Nova Southeastern University. 

As a licensed psychologist practicing in multiple states, her expertise extends across clinical and couples and family psychology. Her proficiency has been recognized by the American Board of Professional Psychology, where she holds board certifications in both clinical and couples and family psychology. 

Recognized as a pioneer in her field, Dr. Walker’s work gained prominence in the 1980s when she introduced Battered Woman Syndrome (BWS) to the courts, revolutionizing legal discourse around domestic violence. Her efforts not only raised awareness but also paved the way for a more comprehensive understanding of the psychological dynamics at play in such cases.

In addition to her clinical role, she served as a professor at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Psychology for nearly two decades, nurturing the next generation of psychologists and imparting expertise in forensic and clinical psychology. Her ongoing research, including the validation of the battered woman syndrome model and the development of new assessment instruments, continues to enrich the field.

Moreover, The Domestic Violence Institute, Inc., which Dr. Walker directs, stands as a testament to her commitment to raising awareness. This not-for-profit organization engages policymakers and communities globally in discussions around domestic violence and gender-based violence. Through speaking engagements, research consultations, and papers, her team empowers individuals and fosters change.

In her post-retirement endeavors, she has launched the Innovative Professional CEs, collaborating with Dr. Rachel Needle to develop trauma-focused webinars. These resources, featuring leading traumatologists’ insights, empower mental health professionals to refine their interventions with trauma survivors. She has also formed Endolor Publishing LLC where she writes murder mysteries. Her first one, Madness to Murder is  available on Amazon’s Kindle University with a second one due out this fall.
