Get to know Breast Surgical Oncologist Dr. Firas Eladoumikdachi, who serves patients in Hamilton, New Jersey.

Dr. Eladoumikdachi is a sought out breast surgical oncologist serving as the Director for the Breast Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey at Hamilton. 

As New Jersey’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI) – designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s team of internationally recognized physicians and researchers is driven by a singular focus and mission, to help individuals fight cancer. Through the transformation of laboratory discoveries into clinical practice, they target cancer with precision medicine, immunotherapy, and clinical trials and provide the most advanced, comprehensive, and compassionate world-class cancer care to adults and children. This mission is being accomplished in partnership with RWJBarnabas Health. Rutgers Cancer Institute physicians and scientists work side by side to make sure the most sophisticated treatments are delivered to patients quickly and safely – the future of cancer treatments today.

With breast cancer treatment becoming more individualized than ever, Dr. Eladoumikdachi believes the patient is at the center of all the different treatment modalities and support services. His interests also lie in clinical research and teaching, which is why being faculty at the Division of Surgical Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is so important to him.

Among the doctor’s hospital affiliations, he collaborates with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick, and the Stacy Goldstein Breast Cancer Center.

A resident of Montgomery Township, Dr. Eladoumikdachi graduated with his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine. He then went on to perform his internship at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, followed by his residency in general surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Furthering his training, he completed his fellowship in breast surgical oncology at Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center at Northwestern University, in Chicago, IL.

With a commitment to quality patient care, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and the Society of Surgical Oncology (FSSO), Dr. Eladoumikdachi is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.

Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery applied to oncology; it focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors. A breast surgical oncologist is a surgeon who specializes in breast cancer and other diseases of the breast. Their areas of expertise include: lumpectomy/breast-conserving surgery, mastectomies (including skin and nipple-sparing surgeries), simultaneous and staged reconstruction of the breast, preventive/prophylactic mastectomy, and lymph node surgeries, such as axillary node dissection and sentinel node biopsy. Dr. Eladoumikdachi is also certified by the ASBS in breast ultrasound as well as stereotactic breast biopsy techniques.
