A skilled and experienced breast surgeon, Dr. Price is a member of Summit Health’s Breast Surgery team, serving patients in New Providence and Florham Park, New Jersey. She treats both cancer and benign breast disease, performing various procedures such as breast conserving surgery, skin and nipple sparing mastectomy, sentinel lymph node mapping, axillary lymph node dissection, image guided biopsies and excisions, insertion and removal of port-a-cath (a device placed under the skin often used for chemotherapy). She has a special interest in treating young women, high-risk patients, and those with a high-risk family history.
She understands that patients can only make the best choices when they have the best information. Her role as a surgeon necessitates presentation of accurate, up-to-date information to patients regarding their diagnosis, pathology, and options for care. “Understanding that every patient has unique concerns and health goals is essential to tailoring an appropriate comprehensive care plan. People have different experiences, beliefs, and cultural or socioeconomic backgrounds, which all shape their perspective and it’s important to take all of that into consideration in order to be of the greatest help” expressed the doctor.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Price received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Duke University, and graduated with her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her residency in general surgery at Temple University Hospital, and her fellowship in breast surgery at NYU Langone Health.
As a testament of her continued education, she is board-certified in breast surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Price maintains hospital privileges at Morristown Medical Center, and Overlook Medical Center.
Cognizant and respectful of the busy lives her patients lead, she places emphasis on effective communication both in and outside the office by being accessible to her patients by phone, email, or text. Her goal as a surgeon is to make an often daunting and complicated situation seem manageable. She is proud to work with an expert interdisciplinary team to provide true comprehensive care throughout the entire course of a patient’s treatment.
Breast surgery is a form of surgery performed on the breast. The typical duties of a breast surgeon include preparing patients for surgery, performing operations to remove tumors, and ensuring effective post-surgery care for patients.
