In the past twenty years, he has taken more than 1,500 registered hours of continued education in endodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry through the California Dental Association.
Having achieved category II laser certification from the Pacific Laser Institute, he is a graduate of the Seattle Institute of Advanced Studies, the Blatchford Coaching Program, and the Pride Institute Leadership Program. His studies have allowed him to incorporate lasers into his treatment modalities, making his procedures minimally invasive and reducing the need for needles.
Cosmetic dentistry is the primary focus of Dr. Eshom’s practice, as he enjoys creating a beautiful and healthy smile for all his patients. In fact, with all his years in training and experience, some patients have called him a “sub-specialist” in cosmetic dentistry. Currently, he is an Accreditation Candidate for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD).
He was honored to be elected as a Board member of the prestigious AACD. Dentists who belong to this academy are the “cream of the crop” of cosmetic dentists. Dr. Eshom is one of fifteen board members leading the future of cosmetic dentists in the United States. The World Clinical Laser Institute has nominated him for a board advisory position because of his vast experience in delivering top quality dentistry. He is also one of seven dentists in the country to be an AACD residency preceptor.
Throughout his line of work, Dr. Eshom has lectured domestically and internationally on the use of lasers in cosmetic dentistry, has written articles in prestigious dental journals, and has appeared on numerous TV and radio programs as an expert in his field. Above all, he wants his patients to be provided with the proper dental information to make decisions for their dental health and beauty.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
When he is away from his dental practice, Dr. Eshom is involved in several fund-raising activities. He is Co-chair and Founder of the Kids in the Klinic. To benefit underprivileged children in the pediatric clinic at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, he has helped with the fundraising golf tournament, raising more than $500,000 since 2001. He has also been the Chair and Founder of the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry Alumni “Day at the Races” since 1989. This event at the Del Mar Horse Race Track encourages camaraderie and donations of University of Pacific alumni in Southern California.
In addition, he volunteers weekly at the UCSD Student-Run Free Dental Clinics, providing free dental care to the underserved population of the San Diego area.
