    Hearing that it's a new filling, it probably needs the biting surface adjusted. When you are numb it can be difficult to discern how the bite feels. When it is left "high" it puts too much pressure on your tooth when you close down and makes the nerves very sensitive to pressure. I would go back to your dentist and they can simply smooth it down.
