Get to know Audiologist Dr. Courtney Adams, who serves patients in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Dr. Adams is an audiologist who is affiliated with Our Lady of the Lake Hearing and Balance Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Hearing and Balance Center offers comprehensive services devoted specifically to restoring and maintaining the function of hearing, balance and equilibrium (vestibular) systems. Through a multidisciplinary approach to the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance issues, the Center provides an academically based, cost-effective, thorough level of care that benefits patients and referring physicians. It is one of the few facilities in the country to concentrate on this specialty.

Dr. Adams received her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in Mesa, Arizona.The Au.D. program is designed to produce audiologists who are skilled in providing diagnostic, rehabilitative, and other services associated with hearing, balance, tinnitus management, and related audiological fields.

Dr. Adams holds Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), a nationally recognized professional credential that represents a level of excellence in the field of Audiology (CCC-A).

Audiology is a branch of science that studies hearing, balance, and related disorders. Audiologists treat those with hearing loss and proactively prevent related damage. By employing various testing strategies, they aim to determine whether someone has normal sensitivity to sounds. As an audiologist, Dr. Adams takes part in services such as prescribing and fitting hearing aids, recommending assistive listening devices, and providing aural rehabilitation.
