How can I stop plaque build up?
Hi....so tooth plaque is a fact of life, happens to everyone. When bacteria in your mouth builds up on your teeth, a sticky film forms. Some ways to prevent this is to make sure you brush the right way. Two times a day is great, but now work on your technique. * Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your gums while you brush. * Use gentle, circular strokes about a tooth wide. * Cover your whole mouth -- outer and inner surfaces, and tops of your teeth. Sometimes we just brush without paying attention and we miss some areas. Try to focus when brushing. * Brushing your tongue to scrape away bacteria helps and it can freshen your breath. * Make sure to spend 2 full minutes on brushing. * Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months with a soft bristle toothbrush. Cleaning between your teeth is super important as well, flossing is a great way to lower plaque levels. There are other types of instruments you can use to clean in between the teeth, such as small brushes that fit between your teeth. Try to limit the amount of sugary foods you intake. And lastly, visit your dentist very regularly. I recommend every 3-4 months for a dental cleaning. Best, Dr. Sally READ MORE
