Dr. Vyas an adept anesthesiologist working within the Anesthesiology Department at Kaiser Permanente Orange County – Anaheim Medical Center in California. Her main goals are to keep balance in her life and to understand and help her patients. 

“The strength of our team lies in coordinating care for our patients from different specialties, making it easy for the patient to go through the surgical phase. The members of the surgical team communicate well with one another to provide a safe environment for the patients to undergo their procedures. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our systems” expressed the doctor. 

Back in 1977, Dr. Vyas graduated with her medical degree from King George’s Medical University in India. She then went on to perform her internship in anesthesiology at Baptist Medical Center, and her residency in anesthesiology at Oklahoma Health Science Center. She also furthered her training with a fellowship in cardiac anesthesia and an advanced clinical-track fellowship.

After completing her medical training, Dr. Vyas served as an assistant professor in cardiac anesthesia at Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, then decided to move to California. Having come from a prestigious academic program, she was concerned about finding a practice opportunity in California that would allow her to deliver quality care to her patients. 

In 1990, she joined Kaiser Permanente Orange County – Anaheim Medical Center and found her goals supported in many ways beyond her expectations. She came to the realization that she was working with an inspiring group of physicians who believed in not only providing excellent clinical care, but also going the extra mile to provide compassionate care.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, Dr. Vyas is board-certified in anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure, and temperature, they measure the patient’s respiration.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Vyas enjoys traveling, meeting new people, and spending quality time with her family and pets.
