An expert in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders, Dr. Mohandessi’s interests in therapy include insight-oriented psychotherapy, more specifically cognitive therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and self psychology. In his clinical work, he works with his patients to alleviate their symptoms and enhance their mental well-being. He utilizes both psychiatric medication and talk therapies with an emphasis on fostering a strong therapeutic alliance. He is also trained and experienced in supportive and insight-oriented psychotherapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

In regards to his educational background, he earned his Medical Degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington in 2004. He traveled to Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and rural parts of Washington State to complete his clinical training during medical school. Thereafter, he lived in Chicago for four years while completing his residency in psychiatry at Northwestern University. He also completed subspecialty training in forensic psychiatry at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California.
In 2015, he was appointed a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association for his contributions and dedication to the field of mental health and psychiatry. Moreover, he became board-certified in both adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
In 2016, Dr. Mohandessi was appointed to the National Committee for Private Practice that serves the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. His position involves research, teaching, and advocacy related to his work as a forensic psychiatrist in private practice.
With years of experience as a doctor and an expert consultant, Dr. Mohandessi is a frequent speaker at conferences, workshops, and symposiums in the area.
