Born and raised in Moscow, Russia, Dr. Santamaria began her medical education there and went on to earn her Medical Degree from Santiago of Compostela University in Galicia, Spain. She then relocated to the United States, completing her residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, both located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

On a professional level, Dr. Santamaria holds the distinction of being a Fellow of the American Headache Society (FAHS) and a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
