  • Is CT scan of kidneys safe?

If you're getting CT scan without intravenous contrast then it's safe . Contrast given orally is safe on the kidney. If intravenous contrast is to used, then you need to know the serum creatinine and GFR. Discuss with the ordering physician regarding intravenous contrast, usually safe if GFR is greater than 35 ml/min but other factors need to be looked at also, such as what medicines you are taking that need to be held before exposure to the contrast Thank you Get Outlook for iOSREAD MORE
