Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Jean M. D’Augustine, who serves patients in Brooklyn, New York.

An established hematologist-oncologist, Dr. D’Augustine tends to patients at his private practice in Brooklyn, New York. He can also be found on staff at New York Methodist Hospital.

Throughout his academic career, he earned his medical degree from Universidad del Noreste School of Medicine in Mexico in 1986. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology & medical oncology at the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in 1992 and 1994, respectively.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Speaking multiple languages, Dr. D’Augustine is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Creole.
