Get to know Neurologist Dr. Barry D. Jordan, who serves patients in Downey, California.

A board-certified neurologist, Dr. Jordan is the Chief Medical Officer at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey, California. He specializes in sports neurology, Alzheimer’s disease, and traumatic brain injury.

Pertaining to his educational pursuits, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Neurophysiology from the University of Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree from the prestigious Harvard Medical School. He then went on to pursue a Masters of Public Health at Columbia University, before completing his internship in internal medicine at UCLA Medical Center, and his residency in neurology at the New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center.

In order to further his training, Dr. Jordan pursued several specialized fellowships, including a fellowship in public health at Cornell University Medical College, a clinical neurology fellowship at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, a fellowship in sports neurology at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and a fellowship in behavioral neurology at UCLA Medical Center.

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

Throughout his illustrious career, he served as the Assistant Medical Director and interim Chief Medical Officer of the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, was a team physician for USA Boxing, and held the position of Chief Medical Officer of the New York State Athletic Commission for two decades.

Extending his influence to the pinnacle of professional sports, Dr. Jordan served as a Medical Advisory Physician for the National Football League (NFL) Player Benefits and was a member of the NFL Players’ Association Mackey-White Health and Safety Committee. He also participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Concussion Task Force.
