Get to know Family Physician Dr. Terese Bauer, who serves patients in Shawnee, Kansas.

Dr. Bauer is a board-certified family physician with special interest in the health of families in body, mind, and soul. She practices alongside Dr. Angelique Pritchett, MD, at Gianna Family Care in Shawnee, Kansas.

A Kansas City affiliate of the National Gianna Center, the mission of Gianna Family Care is “to provide quality, compassionate care to families, including obstetrical, gynecological, and reproductive care, that upholds the integrity of the patient-physician relationship and maintains the dignity of each individual and his or her relationship with God, Church, spouse, and family.”

Professionally, Dr. Bauer is also a Medical Consultant with NaPro Technology. She believes the most rewarding aspect of medicine is the opportunity to work toward building a culture of life through healthy families.

Her acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Upon graduation, she went on to complete her residency in family practice at St. Luke’s Family Medicine Residency in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 

With an unwavering commitment to her speciality, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. She is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Catholic Medical Association.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

Fluent in English and medical Spanish, Dr. Bauer has a personal interest in international medical missions. For relaxation, she enjoys reading, listening to music, traveling, camping, and hiking. She and her husband, Paul, a Pediatric Intensivist at Children’s Mercy, have five children and are members of Holy Spirit Parish in Overland Park, KS.
