Dr. Foyouzi is one of very few reproductive endocrinologists in the United States with vast knowledge and training in medical genetics. She is Director of the Reproductive Genetics and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss programs at GENESIS Fertility & Reproductive Medicine. GENESIS Fertility & Reproductive Medicine is one of many medical practices and fertility clinics in the New York City metropolitan area dedicated to the treatment of reproductive disorders. It is there that Dr. Foyouzi brings to the team special expertise in the areas of recurrent pregnancy loss, preimplantation genetic diagnosis and the prenatal detection of genetic disorders.
Dr. Foyouzi is a board-certified subspecialist in both Reproductive Endocrinology and Medical Genetics by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that board certifies obstetricians and gynecologists (OB GYNS) and offers continuing certification to OB GYNS in the United States and Canada. Their mission is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Dr. Foyouzi completed her internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale University. Thereafter, she went on to complete her residency at Washington University in St. Louis, followed by her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) at the University of California in San Francisco. After graduating from her fellowship training, Dr. Foyouzi was appointed to the faculty of the University of Michigan as a WRHR Scholar (NIH funded scholarship). In 2015, she decided to pursue training in medical genetics to add a new skill set to her expertise in REI. She completed her fellowship in Medical Genetics at UCLA, where she cared for patients with a broad range of genetic conditions.
Dr. Foyouzi has authored and co-authored publications in leading peer-reviewed academic journals including Fertility and Sterility, Human Reproduction, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has also presented research at national conferences including those of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) and the Endocrine Society. Furthermore, Dr. Foyouzi is a reviewer for ASRM and the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ACOG).
Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to reproduction as well as the issue of infertility. While most REI specialists primarily focus on the treatment of infertility, reproductive endocrinologists are trained to also evaluate and treat hormonal dysfunctions in females and males outside infertility.
