He also serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia.

A 1992 graduate of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Dr. Gibbs went on to complete his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center – Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. This was followed by a fellowship in laryngology/neurolaryngology at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, New York. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is a member of the West Virginia State Medical Association and the American Broncho-Esophagological Association. What’s more, he is board-certified through the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, whose mission is to serve the public by ensuring that diplomates meet the standards of training, knowledge, and professionalism through initial and continuing certification.

Dedicated to the profession of medicine, Dr. Gibbs has been presented with several awards and honors, including the 4th Annual Special Friend Award by Marshall University Dept of Pediatrics,  the Best Resident Research Paper Award by the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center – Parkland Memorial Hospital, as well as Mountcastle Merit Scholar by Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.
