Dr. Powell II is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with clinical interests in orthopaedic trauma, pelvic and complex fractures, malunions and nonunions, fracture care, and the polytraumatized patient. He is known for taking the time to get to know his patients and work with them individually to develop a care plan that best meets their condition and needs.

Currently, he is affiliated with Baptist Medical Group in Pensacola, Florida. Baptist Medical Group was started in 2009 for a very simple reason; to provide a full continuum of care for Baptist Health Care as well as for the community they love. Today, it has grown into the area’s premier network of primary care and specialty physicians who remain committed to providing the absolute best in health care to the communities they serve.

Specializing in orthopaedic trauma and fracture care, Dr. Powell II is also serving patients at Andrews Institute Orthopaedic Trauma & Fracture Care in Gulf Breeze, Florida. An affiliate of Baptist Health Care, the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine’s mission is to provide the best medical care for the musculoskeletal system through orthopaedics and sports medicine, utilizing innovative clinical and surgical technologies, improving patient care through research and education, and emphasizing prevention.

After earning his medical degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, he went on to complete his surgical internship and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. He then completed his fellowship in orthopaedic trauma with the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In addition to being a member of the AO Foundation and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the doctor is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

Orthopaedic surgery or orthopaedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
