After earning his medical degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, he went on to complete his surgical internship and his residency in orthopaedic surgery at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. He then completed his fellowship in orthopaedic trauma with the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In addition to being a member of the AO Foundation and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the doctor is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
