Throughout his academic career, Dr. Bedi graduated with his medical degree from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in India in 1972. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in psychiatry at the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida from 1975 until 1978.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders.
