Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Judson G. Black, who serves patients in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

A board-certified physician, Dr. Black works with patients at his private practice in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He specializes in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism.

In addition to seeing patients at his private practice, he can be found on staff at Northside Hospital Atlanta, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, Piedmont Mountainside Hospital, Northside Hospital Forsyth, and Shepherd Center.

Academically, Dr. Black earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine in 1970. He then went on to complete residencies in internal medicine at the University of Alabama Medical Center and at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in endocrinology at the same educational venue.

A Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, the doctor is board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Black has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2014), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2015), and Top 10 Doctor – City (2014).
