Richard, a licensed acupuncturist, evaluates and treats patients based on the concepts of oriental medicine. He is the Medical Director of Dongwon Acupuncture with offices in Park Ridge and Chicago, Illinois. At both locations, he treats patients of all ages, using various techniques to offer relief and improve overall health, including cupping, electroacupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, Tui na, and more.
In 2007, Richard graduated from Dongguk University Los Angeles with his Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree. He then went on to complete his internship at the University of Southern California, where he won the Best Intern Award. Before long, he earned the title of Diplomate of Oriental Medicine.
A Dipl OM has completed four academic years of education at the master’s degree level in an acupuncture and Chinese herbology program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) or has completed an international education program which is substantially equivalent to ACAOM standards.
Having learned the practice of Eastern Medicine in both Los Angeles and the Republic of Korea, one of Richard’s main skills is Chuna manipulation, which is a technique applied to restore balance to the body’s musculoskeletal system. Following this technique, he uses acupuncture to ease pain by releasing the muscles and allowing the blood to circulate.
Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of traditional Chinese medicine in which thin needles are inserted into the body. The practice is also used to maintain general health. Acupuncturists treat a variety of physical and psychological issues like internal medicine hypertension or anxiety ect.
