Anxiety can usually cause one to create habits to cope that can be problematic. Perhaps addressing anxiety and helping you find triggers will be helpful. What is causing my teenager's despondency?
Hard to say - many variables play a part on teenagers despondency. Some options are: Puberty - body and hormonal changes affect most teenagers. Smoking cannabis? Or using drugs? Traumas - divorce, separation, new parents partners in the home, abuse such as being bullied or peer pressured in school - Has he changed schools? Do you have any spiritual beliefs? Blurred vision with Celexa. Is this normal?
I particularly have not seen citalopram (celexa brand name) related to blurred vision but each person is unique genetically and metabolizes medications differently. It is hard to comment since we do not know your age, if you have any medical problems such as thyroid issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, h/o strokes or glaucoma to begin with as well as other medications you may be taking along with the citalopram/ If you do suspect it is being caused by the new medication please stop it immediately and follow up with the physician that prescribed the medication as soon as possible or go to the nearest emergency room to get your vision checked READ MORE
When should I seek anger management?
Yes, you should seek some help at this point before it gets worse or escalates to you acting out the anger through physical aggression. It would be good to see your primary care physician first to get a full physical to rule out any medical issues that could be causing this irritability such as sleep apnea, anemia, vitamin d deficiency, problems with thyroid, testosterone levels, etc. It is important to avoid trying to cope with anger by drinking or using any illicit drugs due to the fact they can further aggravate your mood. After getting a full physical it would be good to see a psychiatrist to consider medication to help reduce symptoms and counseling to help add better coping mechanisms to manage the anger. READ MORE
Is there any medication to help my husband quit alcohol?
There are some options to help him remain abstinent but first he needs to want to reach sobriety, then depending on quantity of daily intake and time he has been drinking he may need to go in a Detox/Rehab center due to withdrawal symptoms from alcohol that can be severe to the point of causing seizures/delirium. Finally, try to maintain sobriety through attending AA meetings, getting an sponsor and perhaps trying naltrexone to reduce cravings if any. Other medications can be used as well if other psychiatric symptoms such as depression and/or anxiety emerge after he stops drinking. Alcohol and/or drug use really depends on the person's will and motivation to stop. If the person is not ready emotionally to reach sobriety there is not much anyone around them can do but remain supportive and not enable their behavior. READ MORE
