After receiving his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Alam completed additional advanced training through a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati, where he was chosen to serve as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of California – Davis. Dr. Alam went on to take top marks on his board exams, scoring in the 99th percentile.
Dr. Alam specializes in the medical and surgical care of the retina and vitreous. He joined Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in 2006 and has performed over 12,000 major retinal surgeries. His interests include the latest treatments for vitreoretinal diseases and conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments.
Dr. Alam is involved in numerous national and international research trials that help bring cutting-edge care to his patients including groundbreaking treatments such as gene therapy.
