Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Carolyn Boone, who serves the Richmond, Virginia area at her private practice and several local hospitals. With a large area of expertise and a large private practice, Dr. Boone treats conditions ranging from asthma and malnutrition to tonsilitis and ADHD in her young patients. Her practice focuses on caring for underprivileged children in and around the city of Richmond. For her efforts, she has been honored in the local media as a “Hero Doctor.” Dr. Boone earned her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and continued her studies with an internship at Children’s National Medical Center. She went on to complete a residency in pediatrics at Children’s National Medical Center and has been in practice for forty years. Her medical practice features two locations so she can reach a large amount of patients. Whenever she sees a patients, she offers each of them a book to take home and read. She believes that she can enrich her patients lives through medical treatment and literacy. Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dealing with the health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 18. A pediatrician is a children’s physician who provides medical care to children who are acutely or chronically ill, as well as preventive health services to healthy children. They manage the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the children under their care at every stage of development, in both sickness and health. Dr. Boone is affiliated with five Richmond-area hospitals, which allows her to reach a wide range of diverse patients. When she is not seeing patients, she enjoys volunteering in the community and spending time with friends and family members.
