Following his graduation, he pursued an internship in internal medicine at the University of Southern California/LAC+USC Medical Center from 1973 to 1974. Subsequently, he completed his residency in neurology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine from 1974 to 1975.
Thereafter, Dr. Karnaze continued to expand his expertise with a second residency in neurology at the University of Southern California/LAC+USC Medical Center from 1975 to 1977. Later, he concluded his medical training with a residency in neurology at the University of California (San Diego) Medical Center from 1978 to 1979.
