Under the auspices of the Department of Psychiatry, the Student Mental Health Center exists to combat the high rate of psychological distress that arises in the process of becoming a physician. It offers confidential access to psychiatric evaluation, medication management, personal counseling and performance coaching – all specifically geared toward medical students at RowanSOM, Cooper Medical School at Rowan University (CMSRU) and Rowan Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (Rowan GSBS). Additionally, medical students and residents are assisted to develop self-care practices that preserve health and protect against the onset of anxiety, depression, and related concerns.
Pertaining to his academic background, Dr. Rogers graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988. He then went on to perform his internship and residency in psychiatry at the said establishment.
Following his training, he attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP). The AOBNP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) who specialize in disorders of the nervous system (neurologists) and to qualified DOs who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders (psychiatrists).
