Get to know Optometrist Dr. Tiffany Kays Zair-Yalda, who serves patients in Michigan.

Recognized as a compassionate, board-certified optometrist, Dr. Zair-Yalda is the owner and operator of Ypsilanti Vision & Lake Orion Vision – both of which are located in Ypsilanti and Lake Orion, Michigan, respectively. Her specialties include glaucoma management, cataracts, diabetic exams, contact lens fitting, and child eye care.

At both of her practices, her mission is to deliver the best care for her patients at an affordable price. Utilizing the latest technology to optimize treatment, she and her team of professionals provide the highest quality and friendliest examinations and medical treatments. They not only care about eye-care but also about overall health. That is why they offer diabetic and hypertensive exams, as well as glaucoma and cataract exams and treatment.

Firm believers in giving back to the community, each year Dr. Zair-Yalda and her team travel to local and metro Detroit schools to perform eye exams and provide glasses for underprivileged children. They also work with local ophthalmologists to manage patients before and after refractive surgeries, as well as remain affiliated with TLC Eyecare Centers.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Zair-Yalda graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Oakland University, followed by her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 2010. She did her rotations at Kresge Eye Institute, John Dingell VA Hospital, and Aleda Lutz VA Hospital.

A member of the American Optometric Association and the Michigan Optometric Association, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, whose mission is to advance the quality of eye care by promoting excellence through education, assessment, practice, and professionalism for the benefit of all patients.

Optometry is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.
