After a thirty-year career in general urology, Dr. Greenberg recently opened his private practice - Arizona Focal Prostate Center - specializing in the care of men with prostate cancer and enlarged prostate. This latest chapter in his career brings his expertise to the forefront in targeted diagnosis and minimally invasive surgical treatments like high intensity focused ultrasound. These innovations are a unique and vital addition to the care of men in Southern Arizona.
Educated in the United States, he graduated cum laude from the Emory University School of Medicine, and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in his senior year. He then completed a six-year post graduate residency in urology at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals, and eventually became Chief Resident. He has been practicing urology in Tucson since 1993.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in urology through the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
Apart from his medical practice, Dr. Greenberg has a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts, and is an author of several short stories.
