Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Ronald A. Maskarinec, who serves patients in Shelby, North Carolina.

Dr. Maskarinec is an experienced podiatrist at Foothills Podiatry, P.A. in Shelby, North Carolina. He works alongside Drs. Jeff Mauney and Gretchen A. Lawrence, providing medical and surgical services for diseases of the foot and ankle, including in-office surgery, outpatient surgery, and in-office vascular testing for all ages. 

Locally, he holds hospital privileges at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Cleveland Ambulatory Services, and Kings Mountain Hospital. He is also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 4th degree.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, Dr. Maskarinec attended Alderson-Broaddus College (Physician’s Assistant Program) and graduated from Youngstown State University with his degree in Biology in 1981. He also matriculated through the Master’s Program in Molecular-Cellular Biology at Youngstown State before attending Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine and graduating with his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1989.

Furthering his training, he completed his podiatric surgical residency at L. Richardson Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1991. That same year, he joined Foothills Podiatry, P.A.

Throughout his line of work, Dr. Maskarinec has served as president of the North Carolina Foot & Ankle Society, president of the North Carolina Board of Podiatry Examiners, president of the Life Enrichment Center, Board member of the Cleveland/Rutherford Kidney Association, and member of Kiwanis Club of Shelby. 

A Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, he is an active member of the North Carolina Foot & Ankle Society and the American Podiatric Medical Association.

Furthermore, he is board-certified through the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, which was founded in 1975 as an independent, non-profit organization for the purpose of certifying podiatric surgeons found to be qualified after meeting credentialing requirements and completing the examination process.

Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of a variety of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.

Happily married, Dr. Maskarinec and his wife, Dolly, a registered nurse, have 3 grown children.
