Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Dick, who serves patients in Kirkland, Washington. 

Dr. Dick is a board-certified and fellowship-trained dermatologist whose interest is in general medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She is the owner of Madrona Dermatology in Kirkland, Washington.

Madrona Dermatology strives to offer the best medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care to the Totem Lake/Kirkland region and surrounding areas. The goal of the practice is to provide patients with outstanding skin care that has a scientific, evidence-based yet patient-focused approach.

Born and raised in Seattle, Dr. Dick moved to the East Coast for college and medical school. She studied neuroscience and philosophy as an undergraduate and graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College in Maine. She was given the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa award. She then received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School. 

Upon graduation, she moved back home to Seattle to pursue her passion for general medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington and was proud to serve as one of the chief residents in internal medicine. She then accepted an instructor position at the University of Washington, Harborview Medical Center. Subsequently, she joined the staff at Virginia Mason Medical Center. She enthusiastically practiced medicine for seven years before deciding to specialize in dermatology.

Studying at some of the best academic institutions, Dr. Dick received her dermatology training at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a fellowship in cutaneous oncology at Stanford University. After her specialty and subspecialty training, she again returned home to the Seattle area and joined Virginia Mason Medical Center as a staff dermatologist. After several years of practicing dermatology in the Seattle and Kirkland areas, she founded Madrona Dermatology in the Kirkland/Totem Lake area in 2015.

Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

Furthermore, she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, she is a member of the American Medical Association, the Washington State Medical Association, the Seattle Dermatology Society, and the King County Medical Society.

Volunteering both locally and internationally, Dr. Dick served as a Junior League of Seattle Volunteer (2010-2014), and as a Free The Children/Passion To Heal Medical Volunteer on a trip to Kenya (September 2012). 

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. Dermatology is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

In light of her various achievements, Dr. Dick is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Top 10 Doctor – Metro Area (2014), Top 10 Doctor – State (2014), On-Time Doctor Award (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2020), and Compassionate Doctor Award – 5 Year Honoree (2020).

An outdoor enthusiast, she keeps active with skiing, kayaking, bicycle touring, boating, camping, mountaineering, windsurfing, sailing, motorcycling, and playing racket sports. She also enjoys running, having completed many marathons in Washington D.C. (1990), Boston (1992), New York (1997), San Diego (2000), Philadelphia (2007), Seattle (2007), Paris (2014). 

Currently, Dr. Dick lives in the Seattle area, where she loves to spend time with her family and friends.
