Over the last 13 years of her more than 20-year clinical career, Dr. Harrigan has become a dedicated subject matter expert, overseeing and providing advisory services for the effective, efficient implementation and continuous improvement of electronic heath records and other interface systems. She is an expert in optimization of physician workflows with certifications as a physician builder, and she oversees quality initiatives and regulatory content build in multihospital and multi-clinic settings. She presents herself with broad experience in Hospital Leadership, Healthcare Informatics and clinical practice, having worked as a Corporate Executive of three very large multihospital organizations and in addition, provides advisory services to healthcare software development companies. Having grown up in Mexico, she graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico where her first residency was in General Medicine and Surgery. She moved back to the USA in 2003 where she then completed a second residency at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences systems. She is board-certified as a Family Medicine Hospitalist and is also a longstanding Hospice and Palliative Care medical director. Currently she is completing her grandfathered Fellowship degree in Physician and Clinical Informatics to bring her career full circle expertise.

- to the challenge to prove i can do it, was a former beauty queen and was told thats all i needed, i wanted to help community and since i am in charge of over 200 doctors i make sure they are lving up to their license, using evidence based medicine and givng the bets care possible

Get to know Family Physician Dr. Julie Ann Harrigan, who serves patients throughout the State of New Mexico.
As an actively practicing healthcare provider and experienced healthcare administrator, Dr. Harrigan excels in fostering dynamic collaboration among hospital and clinical leadership, physician organizations, and medical staff. Her responsibilities encompass the supervision and guidance of effective and streamlined electronic health record (EHR) implementation and ongoing enhancements.
Since July of 2023, Dr. Harrigan has been serving as an Executive Physician Informatics Consultant at Corewell Health, where she provides executive leadership advisory for the One Epic Ecosystem Corewell initiative, aimed at unifying 22 hospitals onto a single platform to enhance clinical excellence and standardize practices. Her skills encompass executive advisory, clinical informatics, leadership, quality initiatives, system administration, and healthcare regulatory expertise.
Having grown up in Mexico, Dr. Harrigan graduated with her Medical Degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine in Mexico. Her first residency was in general medicine and surgery in Mexico, with a second residency in family medicine at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
Currently, she is completing her grandfathered Fellowship Degree in Physician and Clinical Informatics to bring her career full circle expertise.
Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Harrigan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice family medicine and its sub-specialties.
A woman of many titles, Dr. Harrigan holds the position of CEO/CMO at Physician EHR Solutions, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her work here involves advising hospitals, healthcare systems, and outpatient practices on provider workflow, clinical improvement, and EHR implementation.
Additionally, she serves as Medical Director at Hospice Compassus, a contract position she has held since September 2011 in New Mexico. In this capacity, she oversees end-of-life care for a large number of patients and takes on the role of primary community outreach director.
Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Harrigan is an active member of the American Medical Informatics Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Society of Hospital Medicine, and the Association of Medical Directors of Informatics.
