A highly trained reproductive endocrinology & infertility specialist, Dr. Merhi is the Founder and Medical Director of Rejuvenating Fertility Center, with office locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jericho, and New Rochelle, New York, and an additional office in Westport, Connecticut.
With a broad educational background, he graduated with his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in obstetrics & gynecology at Maimonides Medical Center, and his fellowship in reproductive endocrinology & infertility at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Recognized as a High-Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD), the doctor attained board certification in reproductive endocrinology & infertility and obstetrics & gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Merhi serves as Chair on several professional committees, including the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the New England Fertility Society, the Society for Reproductive Investigation, and the Endocrine Society.
Active in academia, he serves as a Professor at SUNY Downstate University. Previously, he has held academic appointments at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, and University of Vermont.
An enthusiastic researcher, Dr. Merhi has an interest in women with Low Ovarian Reserve (low AMH or high FSH), PRP ovarian rejuvenation, gentle stimulation IVF, natural IVF, and IVF without injectables. His research also focuses on technologies, such as Ozone Sauna, that could improve egg quality. He is also experienced in treating overweight women and those who had weight loss surgery. He is a strong proponent of the LGBTQ community and has proudly served the Jewish Community for over a decade.
Reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to the reproduction, as well as the issue of infertility. While most REI specialists primarily focus on the treatment of infertility, reproductive endocrinologists are trained to also evaluate and treat hormonal dysfunctions in females and males after the reproductive years.
An authority in his field, Dr. Merhi was awarded Best OBGYN Doctor 2020 by New York magazine and received a Star Award from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). He has published over 80 manuscripts and book chapters and he continues to present his research at national and international scientific conferences.
